Synchronized skating is a team sport in which 8-20 skaters perform a program together. In the US, there are 14 different levels of teams, based on age and skills of the team members. This season, Mirror Images has 6 teams - SynchroSkills 1 & SynchroSkills 2, Pre-Juvenile, Intermediate, Open Collegiate, and Open Masters The teams practice several days a week - Saturday mornings, Sunday afternoons, Monday evenings and Wednesday evenings.
Competitions and ice shows keep the Mirror Images Teams busy from December to early April. During the season, the teams participate in 3-5 competitions throughout New York State and travel out-of-state for larger events such as the Colonial Classic in Massachusetts, the Reflections Synchro Invitational in Pennsylvania, and the Eastern Sectional Synchronized Skating Championships. The teams also participate in local exhibitions throughout the season.
Mirror Images welcomes new members, of all ages and abilities. If you missed one of our tryout sessions, please email our General Manager Sue Jasie to schedule an alternate time to meet with the Coach. Skaters should have passed USFS Basic 6. We are also looking for collegiate and adult skaters to form competitive teams in the Rochester area. Again, please email the General Manager if you are interested in joining a team at one of these levels. We are looking for students at local colleges to assist us in recruiting skaters on campus to form a united Rochester team.
