The Thomas Creek Ice Arena's Learn to Skate programs, offered by the Rochester Ice Center, provide instruction to skaters from ages 4 to adult, beginner through advanced. All classes are held on ice dedicated to Learn to Skate programs' participants only. As a bonus many figure skaters from TCFSC donate their time to help with this program. Rochester Ice Center offers the following Learn to Skate programs:
United States Figure Skating Association Basic Skills
The program is designed to lead participants through progressive levels of skating ability to achieve consistently excellent results. Students are grouped by level and ability. Snowplow Sam and Basic 1 - 8 include a 20- minute group lesson and practice time.Testing is on the last day of each session.
Artistry in Motion & Freeskate
The program is designed to educate skaters on the basic principles and philosophy of choreography and style while earning freeskate badges. The program will give them a foundation in basic body alignment, movement and line and the basic principles of how to put together a competitive program to music for competitions. Skaters must pass Basic 4 before enrolling in AIM & FS.
